POP CULTURE
In the beginning of the 60s clothing started out as mini skirts and boots but as time continue on it changed from more colorful wavy clothing. The styles in the late decade
can be seen as a start way of fashion in the 70s. In music you see people like the Beatles Rolling Stones Aretha Franklin and many many other important musical artist that had a huge impact on that era. Rock ‘n’ roll was seen as a more dirty type music by quickly took over the 60’s. The Woodstock rock festival was also a big part of the latest 60s. It was called the three days of peace and music and had an audience of almost half a million people which lasted on the 15th week of August in 1969. Some TV shows from the 60s could be talked with you, the twilight zone, the Brady Bunch, and the Ed Sullivan show. These are all extremely popular and most families watched during dinner time. A popular book from the time would be pulp fiction. Movies like Romeo and Juliet, Cleopatra, Lolitas, planet of the apes and help were popular. On Broadway musicals of the 60s was Camelot due to the fact that it was president Kennedy‘s favorite and he enjoyed listening to the soundtrack and it is why the Kennedy’s are also know as the Camelot administration.
NEWS WORTHY EVENTS
Next would be the Cuban missile crisis also known as the bay of pigs, where Americans throughout they'd all blow up which happened in October of 1962. Then it would be the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. who was a prominent civil rights activist, who died on April 4th, 1968.
The voting rights act was passed in 1965 ensuring voting rights for all american citizens. In 1963 MLK has his famous "I have a Dream" speech which is quite literally engraded into the memory of every single american. In 1961 the russians sent the fist man into space, making human space craft. During the end if the decade we see the start of the hippie movemnt which transceded into the 70's and played an important role there.
During the 60's there was some undoubtly huge events. Here are the top most ten ones. The fist would be the assisination fo J.F.K, which happened on november 22, 1963. Next would be the passing of the civil rights bill that happened on april 11th 1968.
Next would be the vietnam war that occured all throughout the 60's but it ogt especially bad during the end of the decade, that lead to the shooting at kent state. the next event would be when neil armstrong with just 6 months left of the year was the first man to walk on the moon in all of mankind on july 20th 1969.

| John F. Kennedy was the 35th President of the United States and is noted for his work on the Cuban missile crisis that probably saved almost all of United states. Although his time in office was short due to his assassination he still had a big helping role in the space race that ended up putting a man on the Moon by the end of the decade. He has funded more into NASA than any other US president. | MLK is one of the most important and influence black activst we known and is appauled by his outstanding work during the civil rights movement. his courage and need for change helped pass one of the most important bills in modern american history and his speech "i have a dream" inspires those around the world everdat | Lyndon B Johnson was the vice president under the kennedy administration and became president after his assissination. he played a helping hand in the civil rights movement and such but is all tainted by his extremely poor handling of the vietnam war and bringing troops back home. | Rosa parks is known as not giving up her seat for a white man on a segerated bus. This wasnt the first time she'd done that but it was the fist time she'd been arrested. This sparked the boycotting of buses that lasted a year in montgomery alabama and also started her friendship with MLK. | Nikita Khrushchev was the leader of the Soviet union during the 60s. | Chairman mao is one of the most biggest communist leaders and a powerful dictator in China. He followed moanism which was his form of communism and is probably why still to this day China still has a big communist influence. But he had one largely epic fail which was the great leap forward that killed 15 to 55,000,000 people and making it the largest famine in human recorded history. | Fidel Castro was Cuba's communist dictor leader and he can be remember for the cuban missle crisis that happened in october of 1962, which almost ended in the death of 95% of america, its people, and wildlife. | He was the first person to walk on the moon, on July 20th, 1969, during the space race which was in dedication to J.F.K | Malcom X was a civil rights activist. LAWS & POLICIES
In 1960 the civil rights act of 1960 was passed after bombings in churches and schools in the south this was passed in president Eisenhower‘s administration. In 1961 President Kennedy established a P scores act which would make the US get permanent funding in training to send US workers to help inform nations. In 1963 the equal pay act was put in place which helped to stop gender discrimination in the workplace and also get equal wages to people of the same race religion national origin of sex. In 1964 the civil rights act of 1964 was passed this would stop the discrimination against race, color, religion, sex, or national origin and also includes disabilities and sexual orientation. In 1965 the voting rights act of 1965 was passed in this allowed African-Americans in any other minority groups or six group to vote and keep exercising their right to vote without any government barriers in place. In 1967H discrimination in employment act was passed this basically stopped people from being discriminated in the workplace if you were between the ages of 40 and 70. In 1968 the gun control act of 1968 was passed and it was passed by Lyndon B Johnson after the amount of gun violence crimes due to the assassination of President Kennedy, Robert Kennedy, Martin Luther King Jr., and Malcolm X. This was the first major gun control act passed. In 1966 The National traffic and motor vehicles act was past due to the amounts of Americans who were dying due to car accidents. After this it was followed up by the highway safety act which is also put an effort to stop car accidents. In 1969 the tax reform act was passed under President Nixon and his first term. It is also to be noted that the Supreme Court was called the Warren Court due to Chief Justice Warren and it is known as a “who would take old cases and bring them up on the court to see if the constitution had been obstructed or not”.
